Take A Hike
This is mostly an invite for locals, but I’m planning to hike to Lake Blanche up Big Cottonwood Canyon this Saturday at 7:00 a.m. One of only two known colonies in Utah of “Nodding Brownies” lady slipper orchid (Cypripedium fasciculatum) grow by the lake and I’m leading a group of Utah Native Plant Society folk up there to see it.

Bugged
There was a time when I called pest exterminators. I had a disturbing number of spiders in the basement. So I had them sprayed. I spotted a volleyball-sized wasps nest up in the Silver Maple one year. So I had it sprayed. But it wasn’t until I saw the big bumblebees going up under my siding that I took pause.
